throwing them a bone by giving them a defenseman with arguably the worst contract in the NHL.

Genius

Winnipeg isn’t sacrificing 5 years of pain for a few months of stability.

Yes, I have been waiting to see Seabrook going to Winnipeg. I know your are kidding here, but given the value returned for a three time Stanley Cup champion, it shows the desperation to get rid of that contract. The bottom line is whether Seabrook will ever want to leave.

If Seabrook is ever moved, the Hawks are going to need to retain some salary, and Seabrook willingly wants to play on another team. Ideally, his leadership and experience would fit a young club like Toronto or Carolina. It comes down to the desire to win a 4th Championship. And since I am talking championship, why can’t it be the Hawks?

Yeah, Chicago would have to keep 50% of Seabrooks contract...which btw might not be a bad deal for both teams....Seabrook is still serviceable and at 3.437Mill is probably good. Chicago get's 1/2 of his contract off the books, but more importantly doesn't have to protect him during the expansion draft (which ultimately might be the reason the Jets wouldn't do this trade either). Otherwise it's actually not bad.
