Here, Rieder makes for the perfect 13th forward and could even play as a 4th line wing full-time if they don't want to bring up a guy like Phillips yet. He'll be sure to score at least one goal and be much better than last year.
A good bottom 6 option to replace some of Hathaway's PK minutes. He'll be motivated to earn another / a better deal and be surrounded by better players so I expect he won't go goalless this season. Hopefully this is another Glencross/Versteeg situation where the Oilers let go of a guy who goes on to play an important role for the Flames and he can put up 20 points.
