The idea is a bit of a joke, and also saying about how it seems like Drouin doesn’t fit with anyone on the team.

He’s just gotta find something to change about himself/ find somewhere he can best acclimate to leaving 2 teams it seems he’s on the cusp of. Like Kane finding SJS he needs to find a spot he molds too well.

Not to sure who that is yet but I’d love it to be SJ 😉

I think the lowest Drouin's gonna fall to is minimum 3rd line because if he plays 4th line Dru's gonna be asking for crazy ice time, like on all the special teams and extra lines

I don’t think that is necessarily it, since with Kane it was the culture & off ice in SJS. I feel like Drouin needs to play with line mates in a coaching system where both fit his style of play (maybe similar to Phil Kessel).

Julien is a great coach and Drouin isn’t the IT guy on MTL. They’d rather him change than change their system if that makes sense. Like Gallagher I see being a guy retiring in MTL, same with Weber, price, even could see KK signing for atleast 8 more years in MTL. Their system works (mainly when price is healthy haha; subtle jab), like when Weber plays bad (usually doesn’t happen) he affects the whole team the guy is a real positive impact player for MTL. Drouin playing well helps MTL but atleast from my perspective him playing bad doesn’t put the team in a huge detriment; it sucks but you get what I’m trying to put across? If they. An trade him for a good return it could help both parties; MTL and Drouin/ drouins new team. Unless Drouin puts it all together this year than who knows what happens

3rd line because he's a skilled player who needs to learn to play a 2 way game .

Byron's good for 100+ hits a year but only the Speedster we love up until the 16-17 minute mark so he makes most sense on 4th and would give us one of the best 4th lines in the league

Tatar-Danault-Suzuki (he's played the most and best thus far with these 2)
Lehkonen-Domi-Gallagher (tried 1 game and they were top line )
Drouin-Kotkanemi -Armia (all 3 have had horrible pre-seasons so sink or swim on 3rd )
Byron-Poehling-Cousins (Weal's had a better career and Pre Season then Weal hands down gets the spot)
Weal (Swaps in with 3rd line players if they get cold as those players get scratched as motivation to step up )

Drouin's still our best PP forward since signing here and will be again this year but he's not consistent 5v5 so let him grow with Kotkanemi on 3rd line into a 2 way player. If Armia doesnt get his **** together demote him to 4th where he'll thrive playing a physical game and bring in a 3rd line RW like Pomminville to help Drouin and KK

My thoughts on Drouin are that when he was brought in, MTL was looking to him to be the star of the show while he is more suited to be part of the supporting cast. Play him on the wing with a fast elite forward(who the Habs don't quite have yet) and watch him blossom.

I agree. The Canadiens system is great and in no way should they change it, but Drouin doesn’t seem to fit that. So unless he can change to fit that style he’ll never reach his potential in Montreal.

That’s similar to what I would do. Armia hasn’t been bad at all, so IDK what that’s all about. I would switch Byron with Drouin in the lines that I made above, but I absolutely hate KK & Drouin together, since it seems like they make each other worse. And I don’t know where else to put him, because it seems like everyone plays worse when with Drouin.

he's been a good 4th liner like he was in WPG and BUF using his size
with increased minutes last year from 12-13 to 15-16 he scored less points not more .
this camp he looks even more out of place on 3rd line

Same with Byron went from 14-15 to 16-17 seeing a direct drop in offense because 30 year old 5'9 players entire game is built on him conserving energy so he can maintain his high speed rate of play.

if you dont like Drouin over Byron what about Drouin and Byron bumping Armia to 4th Center .
    Byron-Kotkanemi-Drouin
    Cousins-Poehling-Armia

Drouin has had a 53 point season at RW in TBL and LW in MTL so he plays both sides well enough to play right side .

it gives KK faceoff support and Byron might be able to help both start of the season right .
Armia biggest value is 4th RW where he dominate's other teams 4th lines with his size and skill and with Cousins a known net front agitator as well as Poehling a power center in the making we look solid on all 4 line with no real weakness as long as special teams players help us finish top 15 in PP and PK rankings .

It’s not that I need to have Byron with KK. I usually just make my lines and put Byron in an available spot, since he can play anywhere from 1st to 4th line. I just really don’t want KK with Drouin.

    but why ?
they've basically never played together outside the PP where they had success at the end of the year .
they played exactly 102 minutes over 82 games together

i got a source to verify below making them the one option we've never tried

That being said Drouin-Domi-Lehkonen in the 101 minutes they played together looked sharp last year.
