Point didnt hold out this long to sign for less then the 10m they had apparently offered him when they had the cap before Shattenkirk ,and Maroon .

its more likely you see Killorn or Johnson traded and Point locked up at Mathews Money on a 5 year deal leading him into UFA.
why he'd take less then Mathews was offered Mid Seasons without having to negotiate doesnt make sense after the season Point had

this would be like MTL saying Domi signs next year for 5.5 m x 7 years
its purely wishful thinking based on having only 15m to sign Domi , Juulsen ,Mete and Kinkaid with every other core members needing a deal the year after basically .

if we're being Honest Domi's shown more signs he'll get a new contract a year early before Point even gets a Practice in with his team.

Point like Marner , Werenski and Laine are all willing to play over sea's as they will pay them no problem short term until the NHL remembers KHL in 10 years did what it took the NHL nearly 40 to do in becoming a top 2 broadcasted hockey league in the world . KHL also did something the NHL has always failed to do in bringing Hockey to China as KHL expanded with the Kunlan Red Star but plan on growing from there. Russia's tapped an Asian markets with 1/3rd of the worlds population and most important invested in those Markets instead of just trying to exploit them like the NHL.

its the wrong time to dick around as Russia during the Recession years ago saw the Flaw in building the league just out of Russia choosing to expand with the vision of becoming Europe's league giving them a Pro Option outside just NHL . unlike the days of WHA vs NHL they will succeed because they own the market they compete in as opposed to trying to compete with NHL for TV ratings they focus on providing access to nations the NHL ignores for Finland to Australia , Sweden to China they've found a way to do what Bettman and go global .

the days of NHL teams offering players less and saying take it or sit are done .
the players would gladly sit out and play oversea's then be strong armed into a situation they'll resent

I read a lot of lazy assumptions with no source to back them up.

Source please.

Doesn't make sense to you? Okay. But you are not in his position.

Lol. Based on what. Haven't you seen that every single RFA is waiting for another to make the move and set the market?

Again, source? Marner okay, but where did you get that Point would play oversea? You didn't, it's just you assuming every RFA holds out and stomps his feet on the ground like Marner. You can quote me on this, Point won't miss one game of the season, he wants to play in Tampa and they will find an agreement before the season starts.
