I think that Weber contract is radioactive considering the length left and injuries piling up. Nobody will touch it

No, not quite. Nashville only gets the cap hit if he retires. I think it's likely he ends his career on LTIR (like Hossa for example even though the injury circumstances will be different) to avoid that recapture going back. But we just saw it with Luongo so I guess you never no.

But as I said, the cap hit and length left alone is enough to make teams not want to take that on. Injuries are just another valid reason.

If playoffs were a lock, meaning last 1st rounder, it would be good deal

I think any team close to playoffs could trade a 1st rounder for Tatar

Luongo was not eligible for LTIR. He was just old where Hossa had a medical reason for being unable to play.

Huh? Luongo's lower half of his body basically fell apart. I don't know what you're talking about "eligibility" wise. He wouldn't be able to play much, if at all, anymore and should he "wanted" to keep playing (to keep getting paid) LTIR was the only real option. His career was over.

And furthermore, there were literally reports that said FLA preferred he retire than go on LTIR...so aside from Hossa everything you said is not accurate

Florida preferred he retire because the cap hit against them was minimal and actually proving he was injured and not just old and out of shape to play was much more difficult. Also add in the fact that he came back from a early injury in 18-19 and finished the season playing over half the teams games it’s unlikely the league would allow it. If the league determined he was not medically unable to play they would have to have his cap hit in full for 19-20. He probably wouldn’t pass a physical but that’s not injured that’s just old.

Exactly - he was traded for much more than this two years ago. I think he’s still a valuable asset

I would be very surprised if they’ve clinched a playoff spot at the deadline, since that means they’re almost definitely winning the President’s Trophy.
