Explications
Ill be sad if we had to trade Anisimov just because Perlini's agent wanted more money.

Smith's a better Center , AA is a better winger
Smith's Physical , AA is a solid passer

Smith could really benefit from being in CHI.
AA is not so lucky in OTT

So Chicago fans what's next? It's been a while since I've seen a Chicago trade without Anisimov?

I dont hate the trade. I think Smith brings things we were missing last season.

No way perlini gets 2x2. Hes not even guaranteed a roster spot if kubalik and one of nylander or dach impresses this summer

Like what? I get the whole saves cap thing. Maybe that makes enough room to sign Perlini? It just seems like if cap was supposed to be the goal...waiving him would have been best. Remember way back in the day...like September 26th of 2018??? Zack Smith cleared waivers...not one team in the entire NHL wanted him for free. AA brought net front presence...which I understand Stan has brought in other sizable guys to do that role...I'm just not sure Zack Smith + 1.25M in cap savings will help this team more than $4.5M in cap savings.

Apparently he wants like 3 million or thats what his agent wants him to get. I dont think he deserves more than 1 or 1.5 so I went in the middle.

Yikes. I wouldnt feel comfortable giving him a dime over 1.5 unless its a 1 year deal

He's better at faceoffs, penalty killing, and more physical along the boards. The money is also a plus, but make no mistake I still think arty was the better player. We should/could have gotten more but not that much more.

I honestly didn't know he was on their PK. That's a solid point.

Not to mention we have Marc Crawford now who (I think) was the Senators defensive coach so theyve probably worked together closely which means some familiarity, which is also a plus.

i wouldnt say better , just different strengths
Arty will help your 2nd PP unit and can play top 9 wing

Smith is a 3rd line player used heavily on the Penalty Kill and a shut down player with size .
honestly he's what you've been missing for a couple years now , a reliable 3rd line guy

Shaw will likely play a 2nd /3rd line winger role and adds to that depth strength .
this gives CHI depth strength over 3 lines and their D core is deep to with experience in Net .

CHI is actually shaping up into a Contender out of no where based on smart , practical moves

I completely agree BOWMAN went out and addressed every Hawks weakness . If Nylander , KUBALIK OR DACH can stick in the nhl ( IN THE TOP SIX ) The defence , goaltending , pk , size , grit , snarl , leadership have all been addressed . Bowman has quickly and quietly addressed all of the teams biggest needs . The hawks were one of the highest scoring teams last year if they can maintain that pace on offence . This easily becomes the best hawks team since the 2015 cup winning team . They have more depth on defence and what is probably the best goaltending tandem in the nhl assuming CROW stays healthy

from here the only thing he could maybe do to improve is someone like Saad .

if you could use him to land someone like lets say Reilly Smith or Tomas Tatar i think you're a better team because you're adding Speed, two way ability while matching or in this case exceeding Saad's Goal Scoring in CHI this time around . Saad just doesnt seem like the guy to me for CHI top 6 and having him on the 3rd line's kinda rought at his cap . (similar to what we went through with Drouin to start last year . )
